A lista de indicados do Emmy 2020 já coloca a premiação na história da TV. Desta vez, a premiação bateu o recorde de indicações de atores negros da sua história com 34.3% das nomeações. Entre os 102 nomes listados nas categorias de atuação, 35 foram negros, registrando um aumento significativo em relação à cerimônia de 2019 quando atores negros formaram apenas 19.8% das indicações.

A última vez que houve um aumento de atores negros entre os indicados do Emmy foi em 2018, segundo a Variety. A frente deste marco está Watchmen, que recebeu três indicações: Melhor Ator Coadjuvante em Minissérie ou Filme, para três atores negros, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jovan Adepo e Louis Gossett Jr. Além de ter a atriz Regina King foi indicada como Melhor Ator e Atriz em Minissérie ou Filme.

A lista tem outros pontos que vale a pena ressaltar. Maya Rudolph foi indicada duas vezes como Atriz Convidada em Série de Comédia: por sua participação em The Good Place e em Saturday Night Live. Jeremy Pope, Billy Porter, Sterling K. Brown, Zendaya, Octavia Spencer e Kerry Washington completam a lista.
Como já era esperado, Stranger Things aparece nesta lista dos indicados do Emmy, já que não pôde estar na de 2019. Hollywood também conta com indicações importantea assim como Ozark e Better Call Saul.
